Our next feature car is Stu Hodgson’s neat Datsun

Car : 1978 Datsun 120y

Engine Mods :
SR20de

Drivetrain / Suspension :
S14 5spd gearbox, S14 front brakes, upgraded struts, springs and shocks. (Still running leaf rears. Mk2 escort LSD diff with Datsun 9” rear drums ‘fab’d” and retained Datsun PCD. Heavy duty driveshaft built by Circle Track.

Potential future plan is to “plus T” the motor and gain another 100hp.

We’ve owned this car for 7 years, and restored it to what it is now. It was built to be a fun car that is road legal so not just a dedicated track car. We have decided not to put a cage in it in order to keep it road legal but this restricts being able to use it for hill climbs unfortunately.

We look forward to more track days in the future, however as we live in Nelson we can’t make all of the events.

Since we’ve had no submissions for feature cars we will kick it off with our own.
We often get asked “ so what do you drive ? “ , well here it is.

Car : 2007 Mitsubishi Evo X

Engine Mods :
MonsterSport / Cobb intake, Plazmaman top pipe, 3” decat pipe.
Evoscan custom tune
~ 250wkw

Drivetrain / Suspension :
Rebuilt SST transmission with custom tuned maps.
HKS Hipermax GT Coilovers, Whiteline adjustable arms and endlinks, Mintex brake pads with Motul high temp fluid.

We’ve owned this car for 5 years, originally we were keeping it stock but old habits die hard and we did a few light mods and tried to keep it looking stock.

It’s equally comfortable on the track out for a Sunday drive.
We’ve done events like Chrome and Japfest and Vanessa regularly competes in Canterbury Car Club Autocrosses.
It gets down the 1/4 mile in 13.2s with no launch.
